1900 O/CC VAM Rarity Analysis information
Are the VAM-7 and VAM-7A coins underappreciated in terms of rarity and
undervalued? The certainly seem rare based on these populations! Pick them up if
you run across them. After seeing this data, an astute vam collectors
drove up the price on an EF-45 VAM-7A coin to $820 in a January 2005 eBay
auction. That's about 20x the going rate for an O/CC coin.

Some things to consider:
-
VAM-8A and VAM-12 are easier to identify than other VAMs. They may be more
likely to be attributed in a holder.
-
VAM-7A is a relatively new discovery made in early 2000. The chip over the
9 makes it relatively easy to identify so if they are common, many more will
show up as word gets out to look for them.
-
VAM-9 has a significant price premium associated with it. When discovered,
they are much more likely to be slabbed than a common O/CC, especially in low
grades.
