VAM-1BB has a die break on the top left of the M in UNUM. The break
is actually on the actual letter itself which is unusual, as the field
typically breaks next to a letter. The incuse shape of the letter into
the die allows metal to flow and pressure is normally lower than the
adjacent field usually keeping the breaks outside.
when hunting for a VAM-1BB, look for the obverse crack running from the
neck to the face and then check the M in UNUM. Other coins with a
large crack in the field below the chin include VAM-1B, VAM-1J and VAM-1T.
Although these obverse cracks are surprisingly similar to the VAM-1B die,
they are not the same.
